Luke is the founder and principal member of Mid-Columbia Crop Insurance, LLC. In 2023, after years of managing crop insurance policies for his existing clients, he purchased clientele from Mid-Columbia Insurance followed with purchasing additional clients from Fritts Insurance in 2024. Through his leadership and expertise, he has built Mid-Columbia Crop Insurance with the vision of leading a crop insurance team, built on the same principles of Trust, Service and Guidance that has made The Swanson Insurance Group the successful property and casualty agency it is today. He has nearly 25 years of experience in insurance including leadership roles at other agencies - Philadelphia Insurance and Federated Insurance.
Luke attended Eastern Oregon University where he played basketball. He graduated in 2001 with honors in business. After graduation, Luke began his insurance career when he joined Federated Insurance and moved to Owatonna, MN as a Marketing Development Trainee, a 9-month post-graduate course with intensive and comprehensive training in insurance.
While at Federated Insurance, Luke quickly became a standout, winning several production and sales awards. This job and subsequent promotions moved the Swanson family all over the West Coast and deepened Lukes’s knowledge of insurance. He held roles in sales, association risk management and sales management. During his time as a sales manager for Federated, Luke was responsible for Oregon and Idaho, including all recruiting, training, and development of sales representatives.
Wanting to expand his insurance career further, Luke took a role with Philadelphia Insurance as a Marketing Representative in 2009. He worked with independent agencies in Oregon and SW Washington, becoming one of the top sales producers in the Western Region.
In 2011, Luke and his family moved back to Eastern Oregon where Luke worked with Wheatland Insurance. For the next 8 years, Luke built a large book of business and cemented his passion for his clients and supporting agriculture.
Luke started The Swanson Insurance Group, LLC in 2018 focusing on being a true business partner to clients and hiring employees who embody our mission, vision and values, including the 3 cornerstones of Trust, Service and Guidance.
Luke devotes his free time to volunteering in the Hermiston community and spending time with family. He has been a coach, a volunteer and a big supporter of 4-H and FFA. When not at a sporting event, the Swansons enjoy boating, snowboarding, hiking and camping with family and friends. Luke is an active member of the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce, the Hermiston Rotary Club and the Eastern Oregon University Foundation Board of Trustees.
